Description
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) is the primary government body in Saudi Arabia responsible for the assessment and collection of Zakat, direct and indirect taxes, and the administration of customs services. It plays a critical role in strengthening the national economy by increasing non-oil revenue and regulating cross-border trade in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030 goals. ZATCA’s key functions include collecting Zakat from eligible businesses, implementing tax systems like Value-Added Tax (VAT) and Excise Tax, protecting society through border control, and facilitating legitimate trade through streamlined customs procedures and advanced digital platforms like the “Bayn” platform for pre-clearance of shipments.
