Al Khaleej Club is a cultural, social, and sports club based in Saihat, in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. The club first opened in 1945 (1365 AH) under the name “Al-Nasr Club,” which carried a yellow and black emblem. Saudi authorities later recognized it as an official Eastern Province club in 1968. By order of King Faisal bin Abdulaziz, the name then changed to “Al Khaleej Club,” and the colors became yellow and green.

Today the club is widely known by two nicknames: Al-Danah (The Pearls) and Al-Nusoor (The Eagles). Its men’s football first team now competes in the Saudi Pro League, the top tier of Saudi football.

Sports and Activities

Al Khaleej is a true multi-sport club. Clearly, its reach goes far beyond a single game. The club fields teams and programs across several disciplines:

  • Football
  • Handball
  • Basketball
  • Volleyball
  • Athletics (track and field)
  • Bodybuilding
  • Tennis
  • Table tennis
  • Swimming

Moreover, the club runs a strong cultural and social side. It is one of the most active organisers of community festivals in the region, working both on its own and alongside the Saihat Society for Social Services.

Notable annual events include:

  • Sanabel Al-Khair Summer Festival: one of the largest summer festivals in the Eastern Province, with seminars, competitions, and sessions
  • “Muhammad Yunadikum” Festival: a religious and community event
  • Outstanding Students Festival: an annual program that honours top-performing students
  • Al Khaleej Ramadan Festival
  • Book fairs and fine arts exhibitions

For families and local residents, these events make the club a year-round community hub, not only a place for match days.

Achievements

Al Khaleej carries a respected record in two main sports.

In handball, the club stands out the most. In fact, it has served as one of the leading handball schools in the Kingdom since the 1980s. The team won the Arab Handball Championship twice, first in Syria in 2002 and again in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, in 2007. For many years, handball was the club’s best-known face across local, Gulf, and Arab competition.

In football, the club captured the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Cup for First Division clubs. Beyond that, it reached the Saudi Premier League in three separate eras: the 2003–2004, 2006–2007, and 2014–2015 seasons.

Why Al Khaleej Club Stands Out?

What sets Al Khaleej apart is its blend of sport, culture, and community service. The club is not only a competitive name in Saudi football and handball. On top of that, it invests heavily in social responsibility, youth programs, and public festivals that serve the people of Saihat and the wider Eastern Province.

In short, Al Khaleej Club offers:

  • A long history dating back to 1945
  • A multi-sport program for all ages
  • Proven success in handball and football
  • A strong calendar of cultural and social events
  • An active online presence and official merchandise store
