Taibah University is a government university located in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. It sits in the first capital in the history of Islam and the source of the Prophet’s message. The university carries a bold vision: “From the Land of Light, We Shape the Future.”

Taibah University began as a branch of King Abdulaziz University in 1978. It became an independent university in 2003 through a Royal Decree. Since then, it has grown into one of the largest universities in the Kingdom.

Taibah University has six branches distributed among the governorates of Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah. These branches are located in Yanbu, Al-Ula, Al-Hinakiyah, Khaybar, Al-Mahd, and Badr.

Academic Programs and Colleges

Taibah University offers a broad and diverse range of academic programs. It serves students from different academic backgrounds and career goals.

The university began with seven colleges in its first year. After ten years, that number grew to twenty-eight colleges and one institute. Sixteen of these colleges sit at the main campus in Madinah.

Moreover, there are 156 academic programs in total, of which 94 are graduate programs. The seven degrees awarded by Taibah University are Diploma, Associate, Bachelor’s, General Diploma, Higher Diploma, Master’s, and Doctorate.

Taibah University has experienced remarkable growth since its founding. Today, it ranks among the largest universities in the Kingdom.

Student enrollment grew from 7,761 male and female students in the academic year 2003-2004 to 68,168 students in 2020.

The university has more than 1,700 international students. Its academic staff ranges from 2,500 to 2,999 members.

Furthermore, the university includes 1,409 faculty members, in addition to 1,606 others, including teaching assistants, lecturers, and language instructors.

The university’s Center of Genetics and Inherited Diseases is one of the peripheral centers accredited and supported by the Saudi Genome Program. This program aims to determine the human genome sequence for 100,000 Saudi citizens. It is the largest initiative of its kind in the Middle East in the field of health.

In addition, the university publishes the Journal of Taibah University for Sciences, which holds an impact factor of 1.863.
